Care professionals across Hertfordshire are being alerted to a potentially dangerous batch of crack cocaine currently in circulation, particularly in the Watford area. Local reports suggest the substance may be contaminated with Spice, leading to serious health effects.
Hertfordshire’s Change, Grow, Live (CGL) service has received multiple reports from people who draw on support over the past week experiencing alarming symptoms, including seizures, hallucinations, and memory loss after use. Between 2 and 7 individuals are believed to have been affected, with two requiring hospital treatment.
CGL has issued the following harm reduction advice:
- If using crack, start low and go slow.
- Seek immediate medical help if seizures, hallucinations, or memory loss occur.
- Report any similar incidents to local service providers to assist with tracking.
- Be vigilant and share this information within your networks and community.
