One Hertfordshire service recently had a call from a bogus inspector last night claiming 5 inspectors were on their way in 90 minutes following 2 WB reports. The call was made at 11.45pm from someone called Lisa Williams claiming to be an inspector.

An inspection visit was not planned by CQC and no-one presented themselves at the service after the call was made or attempt to gain entry.

Should any provider have concerns about the identity of a person claiming to be an inspector from CQC we do have the following guidance in place – https://www.cqc.org.uk/guidance-providers/how-we-inspect-regulate/how-check-identity-cqc-inspector

Unfortunately, the checking service (i.e. calling the contact centre for validation) is only available during office hours Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm but CQC would suggest all providers remain vigilant and consider the validity of any telephone calls or visits they may receive.
