Find out how Hertfordshire Library Service CareFest is helping people to lead the lives they want.
There is plenty to do at CareFest events, which provide valuable information for carers, older people, and those living with disabilities, as well as hands on activities and experiences.
These events are open to all and free to attend. These are drop-in sessions so there is no need to book.
“This has been a brilliant, very helpful thing. We are so pleased we came. We have learnt a lot and gained useful knowledge. Lovely to have a cuppa and sandwich as well!” (CareFest event visitor)
Our occupational therapists will be on hand to discuss concerns, offer advice, and help people to choose the right equipment or aids for their needs to make life that bit easier. There are a range of items such as bottle/jar openers, battery operated can openers, long-handled brushes, sock aids, car support handles and more to give away to those who need them.
Attending the events there are movement specialist. There will also be blood pressure checks and guidance on using blood pressure monitors correctly. NHS Talking Therapies will provide support and information. CPR demonstration will be led by a member of the emergency services who will teach essential CPR techniques.
Samples of some of the breakfast menu will be provided by HILS (Health & Independent Living Support) with information about their extensive range of dietary options.
