We are delighted to share today’s national announcement celebrating a major milestone in the journey to digitise adult social care. HCPA and Hertfordshire providers have played a pivotal role in this achievement, with 87% of care providers in Hertfordshire adopting digital systems as part of the national Digitising Social Care programme.
This success reflects our shared commitment to innovation and improving outcomes for people who draw on care and support. By working closely with providers, HCPA has ensured that the benefits of digitisation are realised across the county.
Key Highlights from the National Update
- 80% of CQC-registered care providers now use assured Digital Social Care Record (DSCR) solutions, benefiting nearly 90% of people who draw on care.
- DSCRs save time on administrative tasks – releasing at least 20 minutes per care worker per shift, enabling staff to focus on what matters most: the people they support.
- Many DSCR solutions allow friends and family, with consent, to view information about their loved one’s care.
- The ambition remains that all care providers are fully digitised by the end of this Parliament, meeting national data security standards through the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT). Hertfordshire is currently at 78% of Care Homes with a published DSPT but only 56% of Homecare providers- Contact DSPT team to gain support with completing your toolkit- dataprotection@hcpa.co.uk
- Investment is underway in national data infrastructure to enable near real-time visibility between adult social care and health services, reducing duplication and improving efficiency.
- Assured DSCRs are a cornerstone of the Single Patient Record vision, supporting joined-up care and neighbourhood health services.
Hertfordshire Leads the Way
Hertfordshire has exceeded the national target, with 87% of local providers now using digital systems compared to the national figure of 80%. This achievement demonstrates the county’s commitment to embracing technology and delivering better care through innovation.
