New research has underlined the importance of up-to-date CQC ratings for care providers. A survey of 1,000 UK adults found that almost 60% would be uncomfortable moving a loved one into a care home rated “Requires Improvement”. The findings suggest that inspection ratings continue to play a major role in influencing public perception and occupancy levels.

For providers that have made significant changes since their last inspection, older ratings may not always reflect the service as it stands today. With some services waiting years for a reinspection, providers can find themselves working hard to improve quality, recruit staff and enhance resident experiences while still carrying a rating that may no longer represent the care they deliver.

While providers cannot control inspection timescales, they can take steps to demonstrate the positive experiences of people using their service.

HCPA’s Impartial Feedback survey gathers independent feedback from residents, relatives and staff, providing services with a clear picture of how they are perceived by those who matter most.  This is useful for both new customers and also to show to partners and commissioners.

To help providers showcase these achievements, HCPA offers a professionally produced feedback plaque displaying survey scores and comments from residents and relatives.

Displayed in reception areas, meeting rooms or visitor spaces, these plaques provide prospective residents and their families with visible evidence of the quality of care being delivered today, rather than relying solely on a historic inspection rating.

At a time when families are increasingly influenced by publicly available ratings and reviews, demonstrating continuous improvement through independent feedback can help build confidence, support occupancy and ensure good work does not go unnoticed.

  • Impartial Feedback survey is fully funded (provided at no cost) to HCPA standard members.
  • The shiny, celebratory plaque is available from £295 plus VAT. This cost includes professionally taken photographs of the plaque being awarded, which will be useful for promotional and marketing purposes
