Section 52 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 states that there is a statutory duty to notify the Secretary of State about any incidents of modern slavery. Statutory organisations can also be inspected and challenged by the Home Office regarding their procedures and response. With this in mind, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire in partnership with Shiva Foundation, Hertfordshire Constabulary, and Hertfordshire County Council are inviting key stakeholders to a one-day multi-agency conference, in order to raise awareness of this issue and to start building effective pathways which will support victims and manage offenders.

Who should attend?

The conference will bring together senior representatives and frontline staff from all relevant organisations. The aim of the event is to enhance your understanding of the Section 52 duty to notify and equip you with guidance and robust pathways, enabling you to provide an effective response to modern slavery incidents.

The conference is the first step towards building a comprehensive multi-agency response to modern slavery in Hertfordshire.
