We have been asked by the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG’s) to share the below information to care homes relating to the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) which is being used by the majority of GP practices in East & North Herts CCG.
The information includes a summary for care homes, flowchart for care home repeat prescriptions and a fax communication sheet.
Pharmacists want to ensure that:
- Care Homes have a copy of the dispensing token before medicines are delivered. The dispensing token is to check medicines to reduce waste by stopping delivery of unnecessary medicines
- Care Homes are aware how urgent EPS prescriptions work and how care homes should notify pharmacists
