Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) currently commissions a range of services to support people living in the community with dementia and their carers, including: Hertswise – Dementia Service in Hertfordshire, a partnership of organisations led by Age UK Hertfordshire; Alzheimer’s Society’s post diagnostic support service and Herts Dementia Information and Support Service; and the Admiral Nursing Service, hosted by Carers in Herts.

These services have been running since 2017 and they are now in the process of looking at what support would benefit people and how they will procure the next round of services once the current Contracts come to an end. HCC are keen to hear directly from organisations that might be interested in becoming involved in providing support in the community for people living with dementia and for those who care for them.

Their aspiration is to build on the good work currently taking place, both within the currently commissioned services, but also more widely. They want to encourage and support the existing excellent work already taking place throughout Hertfordshire, building a mutually supportive network of partners, large and small, and give more opportunities for people to easily find and access the support they need, at a convenient and local place for them.

Any new services will be commissioned in line with the Hertfordshire Dementia Strategy 2023-2028, and as such, HCC particularly want to build on the support available for carers, and for those with young onset dementia. The new services commissioned will also have an important role to role in developing the local dementia friendly communities throughout Hertfordshire.

Hertfordshire County Council are holding a Pre-Procurement Market Engagement workshop to gain insight and information and are keen to hear directly from organisations that might be interested in becoming involved in providing support in the community for people living with dementia and for those who care for them.

To start the process of engagement with potential providers, HCC have issued a Pre-Procurement Market Engagement (PPME) questionnaire and they will also be hosting a workshop for providers.

The workshop is being held on Monday 11th September 2023 at Robertson House, Stevenage from 9.30am to 12noon. At the workshop they intend to go through analysis of the feedback that they have received from people in the community, give some insights about what they see as the potential for this round of commissioning, and importantly, hear from potential providers about what you think would be possible to achieve together by working in partnership with HCC.
