In the CQC’s recent newsletter they shared a bulletin reminding all providers of NHS care or other publicly-funded adult social care that they must meet the Accessible Information Standard (AIS).

The AIS applies to people who use a service and have information or communication needs because of a disability, impairment or sensory loss.

There are five steps to AIS:

During inspections, the CQC will look at these five steps by talking to your staff and people using your services, and will also ask you how you are meeting AIS through provider information collection.

In adult social care inspection reports AIS findings will be covered under the responsive domain. The CQC have published guidance on this for all sectors.
