If you didn’t attend a Fire Safety Study Day last year please book today!

Last year we ran a series on Fire Safety Study Days (in October and November 2017), and we will soon be running another Fire Safety Study Day for Residential Services for organisations who did not attend a study day last year.

Adult Care Services (ACS) would strongly advise that each provider who has not already attended a Fire Safety Study Day nominates the most appropriate person to attend the half-day event planned for Residential services on Friday 20th April.

Please note: Providers who don’t attend the 20th April event, and also did not attend the study days available in October and November 2017, are likely to be first in line for a Fire Audit.

The free workshops will focus on management obligations, relevant legislation, policies and responsibilities to ensure compliance with all legislation relating to fire safety.

Herts Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS), HCPA and ACS are working together to deliver the free workshop. HFRS will be leading on the Residential Care Fire Safety workshop and the session will cover:

  • An outline of fire safety legislation and requirements of care providers
  • The steps care providers should take to ensure compliance with legislation
  • Fire Risk Assessments
  • Understanding the roles of the “competent persons” – carrying out due diligence
  • Sharing of useful tools and resources to ensure as providers you are fully aware of your legal responsibilities in relation to fire safety
  • Evacuation strategies
  • An opportunity for questions and discussion

All attendees will receive certificates that they can show to inspectors and monitoring officers, and a learning toolkit on fire safety which can be delivered to your staff.

Recent attendees commented:

“In light of recent events this course should be attended by all organisations. Informative, up to date and totally relevant to your organisation. A must attend!”
