Launched in October by the Department of Health and Social Care to help close the vacancy gap

This October, the Department of Health and Social Care will launch the second phase of the national adult care recruitment campaign.

Developed in response to the sector’s urgent need to recruit quality staff, this campaign is designed to encourage people with the right values and skills to recognise the benefits of a career in adult social care.

The CQC fully support this campaign’s aim to attract the right people and see it as an essential part of the wider mission to enable the sector to provide the highest quality of care. The CQC also recognise that, by working together as a sector, it can increase the campaign’s impact and close the vacancy gap. Therefore, we strongly urge you to get involved.

Turning interest into action

As a care provider, this is a great opportunity for you to harness the interest generated by the national campaign and convert it into more candidates with the right values applying for your vacancies.

In Hertfordshire we run our own campaign to access local jobseekers with the aim of inspiring more people to work for your organisation

There are several ways you can get involved in this:

  • Use the Herts Good Care Campaign resources and the Every Day is Different resources to support your recruitment activity in the coming months, particularly during Good Care Month in January. Whether you operate nationally or locally, providing care services in residential homes or domiciliary settings, there are a range of materials available.
  • Upload your vacancies to the ‘Herts Good Care’ website as well as any job boards you use and the DWP ‘Find a job’ service
  • Get involved in the Good Care Campaign here to spread awareness of your organisation as an excellent place to work for. Invite Herts Good Care to your events or nominate staff to be used as case studies about their careers in care
  • Follow Herts Good Care’s Facebook page and share key campaign messages on social media, using #goodcare and #everydaymakesadifference
