Coaching for Effective Leadership equips managers with practical coaching skills underpinned by strong self management and resilience. The course builds clarity, focus and confidence under pressure, helping leaders prioritise effectively, coach themselves and others, and sustain their impact in demanding care environments.

This Skills for Care CPD module places coaching at the heart of effective leadership, supported by strong self management and resilience.

The day begins by exploring what resilience really is, and how self management, emotional intelligence, beliefs and values influence leadership behaviour under pressure. Managers reflect on how they manage time, stress and competing demands, and how this impacts their ability to lead and support others effectively.

Participants are then introduced to a practical coaching model, designed for everyday leadership conversations. Managers use this model to identify three real leadership goals and learn how to prioritise effectively – protecting what matters most while still making progress.

Through supported practice, managers first coach each other on a low risk goal, before developing their skills further and coaching at a deeper level. Built in protected time allows participants to practise self management techniques, apply coaching approaches, and create clarity around focus, boundaries and next steps.

• Describe what resilience is and how it supports sustained leadership effectiveness
• Reflect on how their beliefs, values and behaviours impact their leadership presence
• Use a practical coaching model in everyday leadership conversations

• Apply coaching skills to support clarity, focus and development in themselves and others
• Implement practical strategies to manage pressure, time and competing demands
