Skin Health and Wound Management
In the UK, over 700,000 patients are affected by pressure ulcers each year, costing the NHS more than 3.8 million pounds per day. This highlights the massive cost to the health and social care system that pressure ulcers and other wounds pose, and demonstrates the vital position that adult social care providers are in to highlight, report and prevent pressure ulcers and other wounds from happening. Please find below a number of resources available to our members to assist them in this position.

Pressure Ulcers, Prevention, Management and Moisture Associated Skin Damage
This guideline by NICE covers risk assessment, prevention and treatment in children, young people and adults at risk of, or who have, a pressure ulcer (also known as a bedsore or pressure sore). It aims to reduce the number of pressure ulcers in people admitted to secondary or tertiary care or receiving NHS care in other settings, such as primary and community care and emergency departments.
