One day course at HCPA
Delegates will have an opportunity to understand the widespread nature of trauma within populations, and how these can manifest on both an individual, community, cultural and national level.
Delegates will learn how traumatic experiences, especially those in childhood can fundamentally affect the way in which brain development occurs and will explore different types of trauma responses. They will also learn a key principle of being trauma informed is by looking beyond presenting behaviours and understand trauma informed approaches are not a specific intervention, rather an organisational change to how people within all levels of an organisation are treated. This organisational change has multiple benefits to all people at all levels, not just those who use services.
Delegates will spend the second half of the day being shown a step-by-step guide on how to use the TrACE toolkit to; ready, review, monitor and evaluate their own trauma informed journey and have an opportunity to network with other delegates to support their individual journeys further.
Learning objectives:
• The prevalence of trauma, especially Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) within society.
• That trauma is a natural response to abnormal experiences.
• Consider types of experiences that can lead to trauma.
