Two day course at HCPA
Day 1: 08/10/2025
Day 2: 09/10/2025

This interactive course will provide valuable insight into current local and national drivers directing management of pressure ulcers and wound care. There will be revision of anatomy and physiology of wounds and wound healing , pressure ulcer prevention, identification and management. Practical sessions in wound dressings selection and how to use ‘Great Skin’ resources.

Learning objectives:

Wound Management Day 1
• Understand the impact of National and local drivers for wound care
• Revision of Anatomy & Physiology of the skin and wound healing
• Understanding the importance of accurate Holistic Wound assessment
• Identify management options and introduction of local pathways
• Gaining knowledge in prevention and management of Skin tears
• Developing further skills in dressing products selection according to wound type
• Identifying and managing lower limb conditions
• Explore foot health in care settings and care of the diabetic foot

Pressure ulcer Prevention and Management Day 2
• Gain knowledge of national and local drivers for pressure ulcer prevention
• Review the physiology of pressure ulcer development and identification of pressure damage
• Implement ASSKING care bundles with ‘Great Skin’ resources into care settings with application to surface including seating and posture, skin inspection, risk assessment, keeping patients/residents moving, continence management and good nutrition
• Understand the importance of developing skills and knowledge in giving information and teaching colleagues, residents and their families in the care setting to raise awareness and reduce risk.

*Please note: As per our T&C’s, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance, non-completion or late cancellation.
Bookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.
Delegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred
