Sepsis Webinar – 13th December 2022

Did you know, sepsis is the 2nd biggest cause of death in the UK after cardiovascular disease, and kills more people than lung cancer every year?

It doesn’t need to be this way – in many cases this outcome can be avoided if we spot the signs of sepsis early. For this reason, HCPA have teamed up with Dr Ron Daniels, CEO of the UK Sepsis Trust and a Senior Lecturer in Intensive Care Medicine, to give a bite sized session on what sepsis is and how to recognise it. We are also extremely lucky to be able to listen to a sepsis survivor give her account and experiences.

Antimicrobial Awareness Webinar – 23rd November 2022

Did you know, antimicrobial resistant infections caused an estimated 1.27 million deaths in 2019 alone?
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs when pathogens causing disease such as bacteria and viruses mutate over time and therefore don’t respond to usual medicines used to treat the disease. Recently, diseases are becoming more and more difficult to treat as a result of AMR.

To raise the awareness of the issue of AMR, the World Health Organisation organises World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, this year with the theme of raising awareness together across multiple settings. Therefore, HCPA are pleased to partner up with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the local pharmacy team to educate our valued members about AMR and what you can do to play your part.
