Mental Health Act Reforms – HCPA and Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) Information Session

1 hour via Virtual Classroom

Audience: Care Managers, Registered Managers and senior care staff working in adult social care settings.

This provider session will introduce the Mental Health Act reforms and explore what they may mean for adult social care providers in Hertfordshire.

The session will cover key reform themes including choice and autonomy, Nominated Persons, advocacy, care and treatment planning, least restrictive practice, and changes affecting people with a learning disability and autistic people.

The session will also focus on practical provider readiness, including crisis prevention, community support, Dynamic Support Registers, Care and Treatment Reviews, Positive Behaviour Support, and local Hertfordshire pathways that can help providers understand available support and prepare for people with complex or changing needs.

By attending, providers will:
•  Gain an overview of the Mental Health Act reforms and the key themes relevant to adult social care.
•  Understand the potential implications for supporting people with mental health needs, learning disabilities, autism, and complex presentations.
•  Learn about local Hertfordshire support pathways, including Dynamic Support Registers, Care and Treatment Reviews, SLDS community support and PBS/crisis recovery support.
•  Consider practical steps for provider readiness, including awareness, care planning, workforce confidence and signposting to appropriate support.
