This online training course supports managers and senior staff in developing a clear, robust, and legally compliant approach to medication governance within care home settings. The session explores the legislation, regulatory expectations, and practical systems required to maintain safe, consistent, and person‑centred medication practice. Participants will also examine staff roles, responsibilities, and escalation processes – alongside effective methods for communicating good practice within wider teams.
Learning Outcomes
• Understand the legislation and guidance underpinning medication governance.
• Understand how to ensure the care service can meet the regulatory and local monitoring requirements for medication administration, including the consequences of incorrect practice.
• Recognise and review the responsibilities involved in effective medication practice throughout the organisation, including process for escalations.
• To have clear guidance and structure regarding the roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities with different roles for medication administration.
• Understand good methods of communication with the wider staff teams, exploring how to establish ongoing communication to the wider team on good medication practice.
