A Pain Profile aims to support the identification of pain in individuals that may not be able to communicate verbally when pain is being experienced. The My Pain Profile can be completed at any time by an individual or by a person that knows them well. This can then be used with the Assessment of Pain insert to help identify if an individual may be experiencing pain and relief may then be sought. The My Pain Profile can be used in a variety of settings to help manage a person’s pain within the home environment or inform health professionals caring for the individual during a hospital admission. The aim of the tool is for people caring for and/or supporting the individual to stop for a moment and think about non-verbal signs of pain. (My Pain Profile in Appendix 3).
