Hertfordshire Care Providers Association

 

 

Who are we?

We are a members association offering advice and guidance to all Care Providers in Hertfordshire 

What do we do?

We manage over £600k of training funding for the county on behalf of the Government and Local Authority 

Why do we exist?

To help organisations raise their standards of quality 

Who are our members?

Anyone who provides Adult Social Care in Hertfordshire – residential, homecare, day services, voluntary organisations, social enterprises, charitable bodies etc

“Sharing Best Practice in Care through Partnership”

 

HCPA – Aims

1.       Manage Workforce Development Funding from HCC Appropriately offering equality across all members and enhanced members

2.       Work towards sustainability – income generation schemes, attaining funding

3.       Ensure there is a package of Enhanced member benefits to maintain and grow  subscriptions

4.       Work in partnership with LA and other key stakeholders for the benefit of the  members and to recognise key national and local drivers

5.       Work with Skills for Care to manage qualification funding offering equality across  all members and enhanced members

6.       Maintain Quality Standards and Provide key training/coaching to members  utilising funding or HCPA funds

7.       Keep members informed and up to date on key care issues

8.       Recognise and celebrate success in Care in Hertfordshire

9.       Maintain a cost effective office base and staff team with clear objectives

10.   Share Best Practice by running pilots and networks

Agreement from Hertfordshire Care Providers Association (HCPA)

 

                    focus on quality of life for people with dementia, as well as quality of care. By knowing the person, their life history and their personal culture, our staff will deliver a personalised package of care and support;

HCPA will...

    Advocate life history work by upskilling Activity Organisers over a 3 year project and by providing focussed  Action Learning sets for Activity Organisers

    Running, in conjunction with, Hertfordshire Adult & Family Learning Services (HAFLS) a Magic Memories project which enables staff and service users to learn together how to create life histories

    Providing fully funded training in becoming a Dignity Champion (funded via Local Authority)

    Working with leaders to gain a level 3 qualification called Leading & Recognising Excellence in Care focussing on customer care in a care setting

 

                    set a benchmark for high-quality relationship-based care and support for people with dementia. We will inspire and encourage our sector to take responsibility for delivering this, building on existing good practice;

HCPA will...

   Sharing best practice through networking events held quarterly

   Quality assuring all training funded through our association, ensuring training providers meet exacting standards and following up with evaluations

 

                    engage and involve the wider community to improve their support for people with dementia, including GPs and healthcare professionals;

HCPA will...

  Engaging Hertfordshire Care homes in a Social Isolation Project, helping them to link together with Home care agencies to offer lunch clubs and activity sessions which bring in members of the local community who may be at home and lonely (working alongside Wellbeing Board)

  Planning NHS/Care sharing groups, 2 per year

  Attending and sharing on the Hertfordshire End of Life Group which includes NHS, and CCG’s

  Attending and sharing on the Dementia group which includes Local Authority, pharmacy and service user carers

  Working in partnership with the new Pharmacist led care home medicines optimisation service

 An active member of the Forum of Fractures, Falls and Fragility (FoFFF) working alongside public health to deliver training in falls for managers, a falls study day and launching the falls liaison service in Hertfordshire

 

                    play our part in supporting the wider community, sharing the knowledge and skills of our staff, and inviting people into our care settings;

HCPA will...

  Working  with Carers in Herts to bring ‘carer trainers’ into the training offered to providers

  Encouraging, via our network meetings and newsletters, homes to invite families into their training

 Facilitating through action learning sets Activity Organisers to share activities by encouraging community involvement with schools and volunteers (working with the local VCS and Chamber of Commerce)

 

                    work with commissioners of care for people with dementia to ensure they commission quality care services appropriately;

HCPA will...

 Active Members of NDS Quality of Care Meetings

  Instigating a Personal Assistant Quality Assurance (PA QA) scheme which enables care providers to access specific personalisation training  and through quality assurance, kite marks the domiciliary care organisation to work with Direct Payment Budget holders. This scheme is endorsed by the Local Authority Commissioners

  Involvement in Personal Assistant (PA) engagement meetings in partnership with the Local Authority (including commissioners)

  Working with the Director of Adult Care Services and Directors via quarterly meetings to discuss care issues raised by members and facilitate dissemination of information from the Local Authority

 

                    clearly set out how we have delivered on this Compact to make a difference for people with dementia, their carers and families. This will link into the work on quality and transparency being taken forward as part of the Care and Support White Paper.

HCPA will...

Monitor the number of dementia courses  and qualifications we have run

  We believe that we can deliver outcomes against all the above on an annual basis.
