Guidance around acute and urgent prescriptions and interim (non-urgent) prescriptions has been put together for Care Home staff and has been approved by PCMMG. The guidance below covers Key Points as well as  Top Tips for Care Home staff, GP and Practice staff and Community Pharmacy staff. 

 

The guidance also covers the need to start acute prescriptions as soon as possible and at least within 24 hours. For instance, antibiotics, in the current winter period if treatment is delayed or interrupted, it could make a person ill or delay recovery.
