Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group (HVCCG) is contacting all their NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) providers to let them know that over the coming months they will be introducing a contract to cover the care provided for their patients. This contract will provide certainty for the CCG that the health needs for their residents are met and will put their relationship with providers on a more formal footing.

HVCCG is working towards implementing the National Health Service (NHS) Standard Contract for all NHS CHC providers. This is due to the expectation that all commissioned care providers have a contract in place with their appropriate CCG. The contract is mandated by NHS England for use by NHS Commissioners and is utilised in a broad range of services and care delivery models. The adoption of the NHS Standard Contract will enable HVCCG to maintain a standardised protocol (which will include national and local quality indicators) that will ensure their residents continue to receive a consistently high quality of care.

The contract will cover all NHS CHC eligible clients that have a package of care commissioned with CHC care providers under the National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS-funded Nursing Care October 2018 (Revised) and funded by HVCCG. Currently, there are no formal contracts in place between HVCCG and those providers delivering care to HVCCG’s CHC clients.
