With party season approaching, the Hub has received several enquiries concerning staff wearing jewellery and cosmetics, including fingernail styles.

Below are some key reminders to share with your staff:

  • As per the National IPC Manual for England, colleagues must ensure fingernails are clean, short, and no artificial nails or other nail products of any kind are worn. This includes all types of nail polish, including gels and acrylics.
  • Similarly, hand hygiene is made safer and more effective by removing hand and wrist jewellery. Click here to download our hand hygiene poster.

If you need a reminder on how to complete hand hygiene, please click here to see the video from NHS England.

If you have any questions on infection prevention and control, then you can visit our webpage here.
