THT launches their brand new service in Hertfordshire

Terrance Higgins Trust (THT) is excited to announce the launch of its brand new service in Hertfordshire. The service has two projects supporting those living with or affected by HIV, and training professionals.

HIV drugs have advanced so far that we are now seeing a population living well with HIV. In Hertfordshire, our biggest population living with HIV is the over 50’s. This is a considerable improvement from the bleak health outcomes that once surrounded HIV. However, this also comes with challenges. Hertfordshire Council and THT have recognised this and are happy to announce our support service for anyone living with HIV or affected by HIV. This is in addition to the clinical services that people should already be receiving. The support service can help with finance, emotional wellbeing, and managing the condition; just to name a few.

THT are also happy to announce that we have now developed a one hour training programme for those working with people living with HIV. The training aims to support front line staff in supporting the residents and the development of HIV Prevention and medication that has happened. Care providers can request this training for a team meeting to help give the message to staff.

HCPA will be working with THT to embed some of these messages in education programmes.
