SUMMARY:Safeguarding CHAMPION - Application
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCourse fees: HCPA Standard Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate/Network Member: £400+VAT | Non-member: £400+VAT \nFour day programme open for applications\nDay 1: 01/07/2026 | Day 2: 08/07/2026 | Day 3: 15/07/2026 | Day 4: 22/07/2026\nAll sessions must be attended \nLead Excellence in Care with HCPA Champions\nEmpower your team by developing experienced colleagues to become HCPA Champions – individuals who influence positive\, high-quality change within their care services. \nWhat is an HCPA Champion?\nA Champion is a trained experienced care professional who drives improvements in care practices\, embeds governance\, and models excellence across the organisation.\nThe programmes equip Champions with the confidence\, tools\, and knowledge to influence change\, support colleagues\, and apply best practice consistently.\nChampions revalidate every two years by evidencing change through action plans\, case studies\, and continuing professional development. \nWhy have Champions?\nCare Managers cannot do everything\, they need support from trusted staff to ensure the service remains compliant with evolving national and local guidance. Champions mentor peers\, influence care delivery\, and maintain elevated care standards through ongoing governance and learning. \nWe suggest care providers have a Champion in each relevant topic area. To ensure quality and focus\, each individual may only be a Champion in up to two topic areas: \n Care Culture | Data Security & Protection | Dementia | Enablement | End of Life | Engagement | Falls & Frailty | Infection Prevention & Control | Medication | Mental Capacity | Mental Health Service | Positive Behaviour Support (ADS) | Skin Health | Safeguarding \nFind out more and apply here \nNote – This is an application\, not a booking. SUMMARY:Depression care pathway
DESCRIPTION:Course fees: HCPA Standard Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate/Network Member: Not available | Non-member: Not available \n1.5 hour Webinar via Zoom \nDepression has historically been a long-misunderstood condition\, with there being a significant variance in the way clinicians have diagnosed and treated its symptoms. This has led to\, in many respects an inefficient treatment offer to patients. The NHS’ new Depression Care Pathway seeks to identify\, treat and review cases of depression more thoroughly. \nThis course provides both an overview of depressions to remind learners of the overall breadth of the condition\, types\, symptoms\, frequency and severity and touches upon some key areas of the new pathway. \nDelegates will understand the difference between a low mood and depression\, new severity classifications\, risk factor that make some individuals more prone\, and consider a very broad range of symptoms. \nDelegates will also understand how stigma can play a role in both identifying and treating depression and understand what is meant by treatment resistant depression. \nComparisons will be draw between the (historical) stepped care approach and the new matched care model\, including treatment options available depending upon depression severity classification. Delegates will understand the new care pathway targets and how these relate to their work\, including touching upon the pathway itself. Delegates will understand the PHQ2 and PHQ9 assessment tools\, and will explore relapse prevention techniques. \nWhilst the pathway is for clinicians to follow\, it is important for delegates to be aware of\, as this will help to inform their practice and support individuals they work with through the process and treatment paths available to the individual. \nLearning objectives:\n• To ultimately improve knowledge of a new health care pathway to identify\, treat and review individuals with depression. \n• Understand prevalence of depression\, and its difference from low mood \n• Types of depression and new severity classification. \n• Understand causes\, symptoms and stigma associated with depression. \n• Understand treatment resistant depression and Identify relevant NICE targets. \n• Understand matched care model\, and treatment options. \n• Cover the stages of the pathway\, expectations and tools used to assess and monitor depression. \n• Identify ways to promote relapse prevention. \n\n \n*Please note: As per our T&C’s\, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance\, non-completion or late cancellation.\nBookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred

SUMMARY:New Homecare Falls Pathway Webinar
DESCRIPTION:2 hour webinar via Virtual Classroom\n\nNew Homecare Falls Pathway Webinar \nWhen a person has fallen:\n• Do you/your staff know when to call 999\, when to contact Avoidance of Admission Services\, or when it is safe to assist the person up from the floor?\n• Do you/your staff know how to safely support a person to get up after a fall? \nIt is extremely important that Emergency Services (999) are only contacted when necessary. Calling 999 inappropriately can place additional pressure on an already overburdened service\, potentially delaying response times for life-threatening emergencies. It is also important to recognise that not everyone requires – or wishes – to be admitted to hospital following a fall. \nThis webinar has been developed to support homecare providers in understanding local guidance and best practice for managing falls in a person’s own home. It will provide practical advice on responding to falls\, reducing associated risks\, and supporting individuals in a safe and person-centred way. \nThe session will introduce the Hertfordshire Management of a Person who has Fallen in Homecare Pathway\, a new local pathway designed to guide decision-making following a fall. It will also highlight the wide range of services\, resources and support now available to providers\, including how and when to access Avoidance of Admission Services in your area. \nSign up to build confidence in:\n• Making appropriate decisions following a fall\n• Using local services effectively\n• Safely supporting individuals to get up from the floor\n• Embedding best practice aligned to local guidance within your service \nLearning Outcomes:\n• Understand the key principles of the Hertfordshire Management of a Person who has Fallen in Home Care Pathway\n• Identify when it is appropriate to call 999\, access Avoidance of Admission Services\, or safely manage a fall within the home environment\n• Describe best practice approaches to supporting a person following a fall\, in line with local guidance\n• Recognise the importance of reducing unnecessary hospital admissions and supporting person-centred decision making\n• Navigate and access the range of local services\, resources and support available to homecare providers following a fall \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER\n

SUMMARY:Emergency First Aid at Work
DESCRIPTION:Course fee: £95+VAT\nA significant saving on a national providers price of £205+VAT \nOne day course at HCPA Campus\n*This course involves physical activity. Delegates must be fit and able to participate*\n\nThe Emergency First Aid at Work qualification\, which conforms with HSE guidance\, provides a comprehensive set of practical skills needed by emergency first aid responders in most workplaces\, giving both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.\nThe qualification meets the requirements for training emergency first-aid responders in those organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first-aid needs assessment. The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the emergency first aid responder\, how to assess an incident and recognising signs and symptoms of injury. The qualification also covers first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED. In line with guidance provided by the HSE\, the qualification supports/approves emergency workplace first aid responders for a period of 3 years\, after which point delegates will need to retake the course. Therefore\, the qualification is valid for 3 years from the date of award. In addition to this\, it is recommended that delegates refresh their knowledge annually. \nTopics covered:\n• Roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aid responder\n• Undertake Primary surveys\n• Provide appropriate first aid for:\n• unresponsive casualties\n• choking\n• external bleeding\n• shock\n• minor injuries \nDelegates will undertake theory and practical assessments throughout the duration of the course\nIt is strongly advised that delegates are physically capable of completing the practical assessment and have a minimum of Level 1 in English to complete the theory assessment. \nHaving first aid measures in place to deal with potential accidents and incidents at work is an incredibly vital part of your health and safety procedure. Hopefully\, some of these skills won’t need to be put into use\, but it is essential that first aiders are ready to act in case of either minor injury or emergency. First aid regulations can be complicated however\, and it may be that you aren’t sure if you have the necessary cover in place. \nNeed First Aid Training?\nOur First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work courses are suitable for staff members who wish to learn new first aid skills and gain an awareness. \nHow Many First Aiders Are Required By Law?\nThe Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014: Regulation 18 require Care providers to provide adequate and appropriate first aid provision to meet the needs of the staff and people using services at all times.\nHowever\, what is adequate and appropriate is quite vague and it can be difficult to know how to ensure you are legally compliant. Therefore\, in order to ensure you do have the adequate number of first aiders in your organisation\, you should carry out a first aid needs assessment. \nHow to Carry Out a First Aid Needs Assessment\nCarrying out a first aid needs assessment may seem a daunting challenge but it really doesn’t need to be. The purpose of a first aid needs assessment is to ensure there are suitable provisions in place in case of an accident or incident. While it isn’t a legal requirement for the first aid needs assessment to be written down or formal\, keeping a written record is recommended. As an employer\, you can use this assessment to demonstrate to the HSE or local authority inspector how you decided what level of first aid provision is required.\nWhen carrying out your first aid needs assessment\, remember to take into account the practicalities of day-to-day work. For example\, what do you do if your first aider goes off sick or is on holiday? Do you have someone in their place that is trained to the same level? \nHow Many First Aiders Do I Need?\nHaving carried out a first aid needs assessment you are now in a place to understand how many first aiders are required. As was explained earlier\, there is not a legal set number of first aiders that you need at work. \nSuggested First Aid numbers
