DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCourse fee: HCPA Standard Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate/Network Member: £37.50+VAT | Non-member: £75+VAT  \nOne day course at HCPA Campus \n*This course involves physical activity. Delegates must be fit and able to use moving and assisting equipment*\nThis course is suitable for anybody whose role involves Moving & Assisting activities within a social care setting\, such as those working in a care home\, nursing home\, or home care setting. \nIf you work in health and social care\, it is likely you will have to move or assist people as part of your role. Often this will involve the use of specialist equipment such as sliding aids\, hoists\, slings and handling belts. It is important that you carry out Moving & Assisting activities safely and correctly to prevent the risk of injuries to yourself or others. \nThe course will provide the information and guidance needed to move and position individuals safely\, in a way that promotes their independence\, dignity and functional mobility. It also teaches about the importance of risk assessments and the potential hazards involved\, along with the key legislation relevant to Moving & Assisting. \nLearning objectives:\n• Outline current legislation\, national guidelines\, policies\, procedures\, and protocols in relation to moving and positioning individuals\n• Explain anatomy of the spine and types of Injuries and identify how to look after your own back\n• Describe how to minimise risk before moving and positioning individuals\n• Identify when to seek advice and/or assistance from others when moving and positioning an individual\n• Outline how to move and position an individual \n*Please note: As per our T&C’s\, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance\, non-completion or late cancellation.\nBookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred
