DESCRIPTION:Course fee: HCPA Full Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate Member: £37.50+VAT | ACE Member: £50+VAT | Non-member: £75+VAT  \nOne day course at HCPA \nDelegates will have an opportunity to understand the widespread nature of trauma within populations\, and how these can manifest on both an individual\, community\, cultural and national level. \nDelegates will learn how traumatic experiences\, especially those in childhood can fundamentally affect the way in which brain development occurs and will explore different types of trauma responses. They will also learn a key principle of being trauma informed is by looking beyond presenting behaviours and understand trauma informed approaches are not a specific intervention\, rather an organisational change to how people within all levels of an organisation are treated. Falls related injuries are common in older adults\, can have extremely negative effects on functional independence and quality of life\, and are associated with increased morbidity\, mortality\, and health related costs. We must therefore follow the below guidelines to prevent falls in your service. \nThe World Guidelines for Falls Prevention and Management for Older Adults (2022) recommend: \n\nIndividualised supervised exercise as a falls prevention strategy for adults living in long-term care settings.\nIncluding the promotion of physical activity (when feasible and safe) as part of a multidomain falls prevention intervention in care homes.\nExercise programmes for falls prevention for community-dwelling older adults are to include balance and functional exercises eg. sit-to-stand\, stepping.
