More information can be found here\n\nOne day course at HCPA Campus\nThis course is suitable for staff providing direct care or making decisions across all adult care settings \nUnder the Health and Care Act 2022 all CQC-regulated providers must ensure their staff receive training in learning disability and autism that is appropriate to their role.\nThis is supported by the Oliver McGowan Code of Practice\, which sets out how to meet this legal duty. \n\nThis applies to all services\nEven if your service does not currently support autistic people or people with a learning disability\, this requirement still applies.\nPeople with learning disabilities and autistic people may use a wide range of services\, including general\, older people’s\, and non-specialist settings. In some cases\, individuals may not have a formal diagnosis or may not have disclosed it. Delegates will explore both commonly used and less familiar equipment\, including solutions such as Wendyletts\, turning systems\, adaptive equipment\, and other practical aids that can make a significant difference to a person’s daily life. It will also focus on when to spot if equipment is no longer safe for a person concerning sling sizes and ability therefore knowing when to make referrals to the Community Occupational Therapy teams. \nThe session is not designed to replace moving and handling training.
