Delegates must be fit and able to use moving and assisting equipment*\nThis course is suitable for anybody whose role involves Moving & Assisting activities within a social care setting\, such as those working in a care home\, nursing home\, or home care setting. \nIf you work in health and social care\, it is likely you will have to move or assist people as part of your role. Often this will involve the use of specialist equipment such as sliding aids\, hoists\, slings and handling belts. It is important that you carry out Moving & Assisting activities safely and correctly to prevent the risk of injuries to yourself or others. \nThe course will provide the information and guidance needed to move and position individuals safely\, in a way that promotes their independence\, dignity and functional mobility. Attendees must have a valid Moving & Assisting Train the Trainer certificate achieved within the last two years. Please send a copy to coursebookings@hcpa.co.uk \nWhat does the course cover?\n• To understand the principles of safe Moving & Assisting\n• To recap on knowledge and understanding of the legislation underpinning Moving & Assisting\n• To recap on knowledge and understanding of the biomechanics of the spine and the importance of good posture\n• To understand risk assessments and the importance of standardisation\n• To undertake Moving & Assisting procedures safely including safety checks of equipment\n• To participate in a practical session with the following techniques: foot on a footplate\, sit to stand\, lie to sit\, falling and fallen clients\, hoisting\, slide sheets. \n*Please note: This course carries a course fee regardless of membership.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training.
