SUMMARY:Nutrition CHAMPION - Application
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCourse fees: HCPA Full Member: Fully funded* | ACE Member: £264+VAT | Associate Member: £300+VAT | Non-member: £400+VAT\nFour day programme open for applications\nDay 1: 08/10/2026 | Day 2: 15/10/2026 | Day 3: 22/10/2026 | Day 4: 29/10/2026\nAll sessions must be attended \nLead Excellence in Care with HCPA Champions\nEmpower your team by developing experienced colleagues to become HCPA Champions – individuals who influence positive\, high-quality change within their care services. \nWhat is an HCPA Champion?\nA Champion is a trained experienced care professional who drives improvements in care practices\, embeds governance\, and models excellence across the organisation.\nThe programmes equip Champions with the confidence\, tools\, and knowledge to influence change\, support colleagues\, and apply best practice consistently.\nChampions revalidate every two years by evidencing change through action plans\, case studies\, and continuing professional development. \nWhy have Champions?\nCare Managers cannot do everything\, they need support from trusted staff to ensure the service remains compliant with evolving national and local guidance. Champions mentor peers\, influence care delivery\, and maintain elevated care standards through ongoing governance and learning. \nWe suggest care providers have a Champion in each relevant topic area. To ensure quality and focus\, each individual may only be a Champion in up to two topic areas: \nThe Nutrition CHAMPION course will enable Care professionals to take on the role of Champion within their organisation for this topic. The Champion will have a clear understanding of local and national guidance and legislation for and will cascade this information amongst care teams\, improving the safety and quality of care for individuals. \nLearning Outcomes:\n• Define the role of a Nutrition Champion and explain how this role benefits their organisation by promoting person-centred\, evidence-based nutritional care.\n• Describe common nutritional needs and challenges in adult care\, including the impact of malnutrition\, dehydration\, and specific dietary requirements on health and wellbeing.\n• Explain relevant local and national guidance\, legislation\, and best practices relating to nutrition in adult care settings.\n• Apply the SMART goal-setting process to develop tailored nutrition care plans that support individual preferences and health outcomes.\n• Demonstrate effective communication techniques to promote positive conversations about nutrition and provide supportive responses when individuals face barriers to healthy eating.\n• Implement person-centred approaches that promote dignity\, choice\, and independence in relation to food and drink.\n• Analyse barriers to good nutrition in care settings and identify strategies to overcome these\, such as environmental\, cultural\, or organisational challenges.\n• Evaluate the importance of multi-disciplinary collaboration\, including input from dietitians\, speech and language therapists\, and other professionals\, to support individuals with complex nutritional needs.\n• Assess the effectiveness of nutrition interventions and care practices\, recommending improvements to enhance health outcomes and reduce risks such as malnutrition and dehydration.\n• Develop a SMART goal-driven action plan to embed good nutritional care principles within services\, raising awareness\, reducing risks\, and improving the overall quality of care. \nFind out more and apply here \nNote – This is an application\, not a booking. If approved\, you will be invited to book.

SUMMARY:Emergency First Aid at Work
DESCRIPTION:Course fee: £95+VAT\nA significant saving on a national providers price of £205+VAT \nOne day course at HCPA Campus\n*This course involves physical activity. Delegates must be fit and able to participate*\n\nThe Emergency First Aid at Work qualification\, which conforms with HSE guidance\, provides a comprehensive set of practical skills needed by emergency first aid responders in most workplaces\, giving both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.\nThe qualification meets the requirements for training emergency first-aid responders in those organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first-aid needs assessment. The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the emergency first aid responder\, how to assess an incident and recognising signs and symptoms of injury. The qualification also covers first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED. In line with guidance provided by the HSE\, the qualification supports/approves emergency workplace first aid responders for a period of 3 years\, after which point delegates will need to retake the course. Therefore\, the qualification is valid for 3 years from the date of award. In addition to this\, it is recommended that delegates refresh their knowledge annually. \nTopics covered:\n• Roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aid responder\n• Undertake Primary surveys\n• Provide appropriate first aid for:\n• unresponsive casualties\n• choking\n• external bleeding\n• shock\n• minor injuries \nDelegates will undertake theory and practical assessments throughout the duration of the course\nIt is strongly advised that delegates are physically capable of completing the practical assessment and have a minimum of Level 1 in English to complete the theory assessment. \nHaving first aid measures in place to deal with potential accidents and incidents at work is an incredibly vital part of your health and safety procedure. Hopefully\, some of these skills won’t need to be put into use\, but it is essential that first aiders are ready to act in case of either minor injury or emergency. First aid regulations can be complicated however\, and it may be that you aren’t sure if you have the necessary cover in place. \nNeed First Aid Training?\nOur First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work courses are suitable for staff members who wish to learn new first aid skills and gain an awareness. \nHow Many First Aiders Are Required By Law?\nThe Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014: Regulation 18 require Care providers to provide adequate and appropriate first aid provision to meet the needs of the staff and people using services at all times.\nHowever\, what is adequate and appropriate is quite vague and it can be difficult to know how to ensure you are legally compliant. Therefore\, in order to ensure you do have the adequate number of first aiders in your organisation\, you should carry out a first aid needs assessment. \nHow to Carry Out a First Aid Needs Assessment\nCarrying out a first aid needs assessment may seem a daunting challenge but it really doesn’t need to be. The purpose of a first aid needs assessment is to ensure there are suitable provisions in place in case of an accident or incident. While it isn’t a legal requirement for the first aid needs assessment to be written down or formal\, keeping a written record is recommended. As an employer\, you can use this assessment to demonstrate to the HSE or local authority inspector how you decided what level of first aid provision is required.\nWhen carrying out your first aid needs assessment\, remember to take into account the practicalities of day-to-day work. For example\, what do you do if your first aider goes off sick or is on holiday? Do you have someone in their place that is trained to the same level? \nHow Many First Aiders Do I Need?\nHaving carried out a first aid needs assessment you are now in a place to understand how many first aiders are required. As was explained earlier\, there is not a legal set number of first aiders that you need at work. \nSuggested First Aid numbers

SUMMARY:Dementia CHAMPION - Application
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCourse fees: HCPA Full Member: Fully funded* | ACE Member: £264+VAT | Associate Member: £300+VAT | Non-member: £400+VAT\nFour day programme open for applications\nDay 1: 07/09/2026 | Day 2: 14/09/2026 | Day 3: 21/09/2026 | Day 4: 02/10/2026\nAll sessions must be attended \nLead Excellence in Care with HCPA Champions\nEmpower your team by developing experienced colleagues to become HCPA Champions – individuals who influence positive\, high-quality change within their care services. To ensure quality and focus\, each individual may only be a Champion in up to two topic areas: \nThe Dementia CHAMPION course will enable Care professionals to take on the role of Champion within their organisation for this topic. The Champion will have a clear understanding of local and national guidance and legislation for and will cascade this information amongst care teams\, improving the safety and quality of care for individuals. \nLearning Outcomes:\n• Define the expectations and responsibilities of a Dementia Champion within a care setting\, and explain how this role can enhance service quality and culture.\n• Describe the principles of personalised\, outcomes-focused care planning in dementia care and explain their importance in meeting individual needs.\n• Define the principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and explain their application in promoting dignity\, autonomy and well-being for people living with dementia.\n• Select and apply evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to meet the changing needs of individuals with dementia\, including the management of behavioural and psychological symptoms (BPSD).\n• Implement dementia-friendly environmental adaptations\, communication strategies and active support approaches that enable daily living\, foster positive engagement and reduce distress.\n• Demonstrate effective multi-disciplinary working and collaboration with families\, carers and professionals to support the person with dementia holistically.\n• Analyse case studies to identify challenges\, risk factors and opportunities for improving care\, and apply risk-positive approaches that encourage meaningful engagement.\n• Evaluate the impact of language on perceptions of dementia and analyse how communication choices influence stigma\, inclusion and person-centred relationships.\n• Assess methods for evaluating dementia care standards and measuring service impact\, reflect on insights from experts with lived experience.\n• Develop SMART goals and a practical action plan to drive positive change in dementia care\, integrating personalised planning\, PBS principles and best practice standards. \nFind out more and apply here \nNote – This is an application\, not a booking. If approved\, you will be invited to book.
