SUMMARY:Enabling & Posture CHAMPION - Application
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCourse fees: HCPA Full Member: Fully funded* | ACE Member: £264+VAT | Associate Member: £300+VAT | Non-member: £400+VAT\nFour day programme open for applications\nDay 1: 05/09/2025 | Day 2: 12/09/2025 | Day 3: 19/09/2025 | Day 4: 26/09/2025\nAll sessions must be attended \nLead Excellence in Care with HCPA Champions\nEmpower your team by developing experienced colleagues to become HCPA Champions – individuals who influence positive\, high-quality change within their care services. \nWhat is an HCPA Champion?\nA Champion is a trained experienced care professional who drives improvements in care practices\, embeds governance\, and models excellence across the organisation.\nThe programmes equip Champions with the confidence\, tools\, and knowledge to influence change\, support colleagues\, and apply best practice consistently.\nChampions revalidate every two years by evidencing change through action plans\, case studies\, and continuing professional development. \nWhy have Champions?\nCare Managers cannot do everything\, they need support from trusted staff to ensure the service remains compliant with evolving national and local guidance. Champions mentor peers\, influence care delivery\, and maintain elevated care standards through ongoing governance and learning. \nWe suggest care providers have a Champion in each relevant topic area. To ensure quality and focus\, each individual may only be a Champion in up to two topic areas: \nThe Enabling & Posture CHAMPION equips staff to learn how simple changes can be made to improve functional independence\, so that individuals can fully participate in their life physically and mentally\, thereby improving overall health outcomes and quality of life\, and supporting people to live longer better. \nLearning Outcomes:\n• Define the role of an Enabling Champion and explain how this role can benefit their organisation by fostering a culture of independence and active participation.\n• Describe the anatomy and physiology relevant to mobility\, including the benefits of physical activity and encouraging participation in activities of daily living (ADLs) through normal movement.\n• Explain the principles of an enabling care culture\, including how to identify potential problems and appropriately signpost to appropriate professionals.\n• Apply the SMART goal-setting process to develop personalised mobility and enabling plans within their own workplace.\n• Demonstrate effective communication and motivational strategies\, including goal setting\, to support and encourage individuals’ participation in mobility and ADLs.\n• Implement therapeutic handling techniques\, such as therapeutic touch\, to facilitate safe and effective movement.\n• Analyse posture and positioning principles\, including joint positioning and optimal alignment\, and apply methods to check and improve sitting posture.\n• Evaluate signs of acute deterioration using tools such as RESTORE2 and NEWS2\, and identify appropriate actions and referrals.\n• Assess the impact of enabling practices on individual independence and well-being\, and recommend improvements to care plans and organisational culture.\n• Develop a comprehensive action plan using SMART goals to promote an enabling care culture that supports safe mobility\, encourages physical activity\, and ensures timely response to health deterioration. \nFind out more and apply here \nNote – This is an application\, not a booking. If approved\, you will be invited to book.
