DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCourse fee: HCPA Standard Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate/Network Member: £10+VAT | Non-member: £20+VAT  \n1 hour webinar via MS Teams\nThis webinar is designed for registered managers\, deputy managers\, clinical leads\, and senior staff responsible for overseeing safe bed rail practices within their service. The session will provide an overview of current national guidance\, including the National Patient Safety Alert and MHRA recommendations\, and explore the responsibilities of care providers in ensuring safe\, effective\, and person-centred decision-making. \nParticipants will be introduced to the Bed Rail Risk Management Tool\, enabling them to identify key risks associated with the use of bed rails and bed grab handles\, implement robust risk management processes\, and ensure appropriate governance arrangements are in place. The webinar will also explore practical approaches to managing falls and bed-related risks\, including alternative equipment and strategies where bed rails may not be the safest option. \nThe session will support managers to review current practice\, strengthen compliance with national guidance\, and provide assurance that bed rail decisions are appropriately assessed\, documented\, monitored\, and reviewed across their service. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand the requirements of the National Patient Safety Alert\, MHRA guidance\, and provider responsibilities relating to bed rails and bed grab handles.\nUse the Bed Rail Risk Management Tool to identify\, assess\, and manage risks associated with bed rails and bed grab handles.\nImplement effective systems for completing\, reviewing\, and auditing bed rail risk assessments within their service.\nIdentify and address common bed rail and falls-related issues\, including the consideration of alternative equipment and risk reduction strategies.\nEnsure decisions regarding bed rail use are person-centred\, proportionate\, appropriately documented\, and subject to regular review. \nRecognise when specialist advice\, equipment review\, or referral to community-based services is required to support safe practice. \n\n*Please note: As per our T&C’s\, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance\, non-completion or late cancellation.\nBookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred
