It will help them understand the respiratory system\, the mechanisms of normal breathing and how COPD affects respiratory function\, including the symptoms of emphysema\, chronic bronchitis and asthma. This course also covers risk factors\, co-morbidities and managing exacerbations/flare ups. Delegates will explore both commonly used and less familiar equipment\, including solutions such as Wendyletts\, turning systems\, adaptive equipment\, and other practical aids that can make a significant difference to a person’s daily life. It will also focus on when to spot if equipment is no longer safe for a person concerning sling sizes and ability therefore knowing when to make referrals to the Community Occupational Therapy teams. \nThe session is not designed to replace moving and handling training.
