A ‘Well Led’ organisation will be en-route to gaining ‘outstanding’ at inspection. It is vital that leaders of all levels are given the resources they need to not only do their job but also to reflect on their own practice. The courses within the ‘HCPA Leadership Suite’ are all designed to focus on the care sector and not just on theoretical models of leadership and the assignments are carefully put together to enable the leader to ‘try out’ a new skill.

There are courses for those brand new to leadership (such as team/shift leaders) and also courses for senior managers. The peer learning opportunities in these courses provide added value to the learner by providing a safe space to discuss and plan new strategies. We want managers to be transformational with their teams and these courses are written in a way to enable this without feeling that aims are beyond tasks that can be carried out in a real working environment.

People often attend a selection of courses in this suite as each one has an entirely different focus – supervising staff – ‘An Introduction to Care Leadership’; coaching for high performance – ‘Leading a Workforce Coaching Strategy’; leading on inspections – ‘Leading and Recognising Excellence in Care’; recruiting and retaining the right staff – ‘Leading a Compassionate Care Service’; building a brilliant team – ‘Performance Management’; and managing the skills within the team – ‘Training Management’.
