DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCourse fee: HCPA Standard Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate/Network Member: £25+VAT | Non-member: £50+VAT  \nHalf day virtual course via MS Teams\nThis course increases understanding of young onset dementia and explores the unique challenges that can arise when supporting people who develop dementia at a younger age. It highlights the differences between young onset and later life dementia and considers the emotional\, social\, and practical impact on individuals\, families\, and services. \nThe course supports staff to recognise early signs and symptoms\, respond sensitively to complex needs\, and provide person centred\, age appropriate support. It also looks at partnership working\, signposting\, and the importance of involving families and wider support networks. \nEntry Requirements: Learners should have completed their staff induction and have basic awareness of dementia as a minimum. \nLearning objectives:\nBy the end of this course\, participants will be able to:\n• Recognise the signs and symptoms of young onset dementia\n• Understand the specific challenges faced by individuals living with young onset dementia\n• Support individuals with:\n– Emotional challenges\n– Personal care needs\n– Sex and relationships\n– Employment and work related issues\n• Understand the impact of young onset dementia on family members and friends and how to support them\n• Communicate effectively and respectfully to maintain dignity and person centred care\n• Understand how and where to refer for further assessment\, support\, and specialist services\n• Be aware of local and national young onset dementia support services \nStandards mapping\nThis course is mapped to the dementia care standards:\n• Person centred care\n• Responding to changes in dependency\n• Carer and family involvement\n• Respect and dignity\n• Effective communication\n• Skills and competence\n• Supportive environment\n• Meaningful activities and engagement\n• Collaborative multidisciplinary working \n*Please note: As per our T&C’s\, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance\, non-completion or late cancellation.\nBookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred

It identifies different types of abuse\, along with the signs and symptoms that might indicate abuse is occurring.
