DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCourse fee: HCPA Standard Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate/Network Member: £75+VAT | Non-member: £150+VAT \nTwo day course at HCPA Campus\nDay 1: 01/09/2026\nDay 2: 02/09/2026 \nCourse Overview\nThis two-day course is for care staff who have been in their role for at least 6 months and already understand the basics of infection prevention and control (IPC). It provides a more detailed and practical approach to preventing infection across social care settings. Participants will leave with increased confidence in applying IPC measures effectively\, supporting wellbeing\, and responding to infection risks confidently. \nThis course is aligned with the Workforce Development Pathway under:\n• Care or Support Worker – Established in their role with consolidated skills and experience\n• Enhanced Care Worker – Delegated healthcare activities and/or condition-specific support \nEntry Requirements\nLearners must have completed the Care Certificate or equivalent induction training and have at least 6 months’ experience working in care. \nLearning objectives:\n• Understand infection types and how they spread\n• Recognise signs of infection and respond appropriately\n• Apply Standard Infection Control Precautions (SICPs) confidently\n• Handle food safely to reduce infection risks\n• Identify risks from invasive devices (e.g. PEGs\, catheters)\n• Use PPE and hand hygiene effectively\n• Understand alert organisms and care implications\n• Follow national and local IPC protocols\n• Implement Transmission-Based Precautions (TBPs)\n• Handle specimens safely and reduce infection risk\n• Promote antimicrobial stewardship and responsible antibiotic use\n• Manage outbreaks and escalation processes\n• Promote hydration\, nutrition\, hygiene\, and immunisation for wellbeing \n*Please note: As per our T&C’s\, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance\, non-completion or late cancellation.\nBookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred.
