It is not designed to train professionals to become drug and alcohol workers as these roles are highly specialised. \nIt will help learners to understand some of the many reasons why people misuse both legal and illegal substances. Learners will then explore signs that could emerge across a range of domains\, E.G. mental\, emotional etc. \nLearners will understand that wellness plans are not a plan for them to complete\, they are the responsibility of the person who has mental health difficulties/in recovery. \nLearners will look at the 5 principles of wellness plans and consider how\, through individual support\, group support etc\, individuals can be helped\, where needed\, to capture important information about their own crisis\, their own recovery and what helps and hinders their continued journey. \nLearning objectives – Substance misuse:\n• Understand what is meant by the term substance misuse\, types of legal and illegal substances people misuse including how to recognise them by their real or street name\, paraphernalia associated with their use and the immediate and long term affects of their use.  \n• Raise awareness of Naloxone\, an anti-overdose drug for opioids\, types and an introduction to how its administered for educational purposes only\, how to spot the signs of an opioid overdose and what to do.   \n• Consider the barriers to support people may face including stigma\, personal and healthcare systems and what we can do to help an individual to start to overcome these barriers.  \n• Spotting some of the signs and symptoms of drug abuse and learners will have an opportunity to identify and share through their own knowledge and experience\, other potential signs.  \n• How to constructively share your concerns with a person who you either know or suspect of misusing substances.\n• Consider several tips of how to work collaboratively with an individual.  \n• Consider statutory and non-statutory services and their referral pathways.  \n• 1-1 interventions \n• Recovery \n• Care and support planning.  \nLearning objectives – Crisis Recovery and Wellness Plans:\n• To understand what is meant by the term “Crisis”. \n• To consider how a mental health crisis may look and feel. \n• Consider what is meant by the term recovery. \n• Consider the differences between personal and clinical recovery and how these interact with one another.  \n• Look at the importance of self-management and support networks in recovery.  \n• Discuss the differences between lapse and relapse and what this can mean for recovery.  \n• A step-by step guide to how wellness plans are completed. \n• Group reflection on how wellness plans can be introduced to your organisation. \n \n*Please note: As per our T&C’s\, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance\, non-completion or late cancellation.\nBookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred
