Building on core principles\, training will focus on practical skills\, meaningful discussions\, and real-world application to equip care staff with the tools to deliver high-quality\, dignified care at every stage of the end-of-life journey. \nEntry requirements: Learners must have completed the basic introduction to End of Life Care course or equivalent training and have been in their role for a minimum of 6 months prior to attending this course. \nWhat to expect:\nDay 1: This session includes strategies for approaching sensitive conversations with confidence and empathy. It will also cover essential communication techniques for supporting individuals at the end of life\, their families\, and the wider care team.\nDay 2: This session covers how to care for someone in their final days and key considerations for care after death. DESCRIPTION:Course fee: HCPA Full Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate Member: £25+VAT | ACE Member: £33+VAT | Non-member: £50+VAT  \nHalf day course via Zoom \nLearners will have the opportunity to discuss both within breakout rooms and as part of a wider group the impact a crisis can have upon a person’s mental\, emotional and physical needs\, including the impact on upon “External structures” E.G. family\, work\, finances etc. \nLearners will explore what is useful for a person in their recovery and how self-management\, being responsible for their own recovery journey. Learner will consider external sources of support both formal and informal and why they are also key to becoming well and staying well. \nLearners will consider the difference between a lapse in a person’s recovery and a relapse\, and how individual perspectives on either can cause confusion or distress. Learners will then explore signs that could emerge across a range of domains\, E.G. mental\, emotional etc. \nLearners will understand that wellness plans are not a plan for them to complete\, they are the responsibility of the person who has mental health difficulties/in recovery. Sessions are designed so that participants can interact with the trainer and other learners to quickly gain actionable skills\, knowledge and behaviours\, helping them implement these swiftly.\n\nThis course is suitable for all Mental Health services\, with an emphasis on accommodation-based services.\nIt is best suited to managers and seniors who are able to implement new practice. \nExperience is one element of learning\, however on its own is not enough. Although reflective practice is a tool largely used within health and social care to reflect on one’s own actions to take a critical stance (not judgemental) towards one’s own practice and includes that of our peers in a process of continuous adaptation and learning\, it is transferable to any organisation. \nThis course will focus on the Gibbs cycle of reflective practice\, as its cyclical nature lends itself well for continual learning.
