DESCRIPTION:    \nCourse fee: £75+VAT\nThis course is eligible for funding re-imbursement via the Learning & Development Support Scheme (LDSS). More information can be found here\n\nOne day course at HCPA Campus\nThis course is suitable for staff providing direct care or making decisions across all adult care settings \nUnder the Health and Care Act 2022 all CQC-regulated providers must ensure their staff receive training in learning disability and autism that is appropriate to their role.\nThis is supported by the Oliver McGowan Code of Practice\, which sets out how to meet this legal duty. \n\nThis applies to all services\nEven if your service does not currently support autistic people or people with a learning disability\, this requirement still applies.\nPeople with learning disabilities and autistic people may use a wide range of services\, including general\, older people’s\, and non-specialist settings. In some cases\, individuals may not have a formal diagnosis or may not have disclosed it. Therefore\, all staff must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide safe\, respectful\, and inclusive care. \nThe Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is the government’s preferred training of meaningful training for health and social care staff on learning disabilities and autism.\nThe Tier 2 course is co-delivered by trainers with lived experience and covers: \n\nAvoiding diagnostic overshadowing\nCommon co-occurring conditions\nLegal frameworks (Mental Capacity Act\, Human Rights Act\, Autism Act\, Equality Act)\nReasonable adjustments\, including hospital passports\nAppropriate DNACPR application\nProfessional culture\, biases\, and their impact\nAccessible communication\nUnderstanding and responding to individuals and families\nAsk Listen Do framework\nLearning from LeDeR\n\nPrior to attending\, delegates must have completed the e-learning module which can be found here\nPlease note this is managed on the national platform “e-learning for healthcare” and is not managed by HCPA. It is suitable for managers and leaders of care providers interested in expanding their skills and knowledge on safe medicine administration in their organisation. \nLearning Outcomes\n• Understand the legislation and guidance underpinning medication governance and how you can embed this using the medication standards document\n• Ensure the service understands and is meeting the regulatory and local monitoring requirements for medication administration\, including the consequences of incorrect practice\n• Recognise and review the responsibilities involved in effective medication practice throughout the organisation\, including process for escalations\n• To have clear guidance and structure regarding the roles\, responsibilities\, and accountabilities with different roles for medication administration\n• Understand good methods of communication with the wider staff teams and explore how you will establish ongoing communication to the wider team on good medication practice. \n*Please note: As per our T&C’s\, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance\, non-completion or late cancellation.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred
