DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCourse fee: HCPA Standard Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate/Network Member: £37.50+VAT | Non-member: £75+VAT \nOne day course at HCPA Campus\nThis course focuses on falls prevention and Enabling Care.\nRecent guidance on the physical and mental health benefits of being more: active\, empowered\, and independent\, now emphasises what has been known in Therapy settings for a long time\, and that is: through an enabling approach\, people can actually improve\, and live longer\, better lives! \nThis same ethos is also important for falls prevention\, we know that falls aren’t always preventable\, but it is essential that individuals are still improving not only their quality of life but also severity of falls\, focusing on better health outcomes for individuals. \nDelegates will learn new skills from our qualified Physiotherapist\, enhancing knowledge and practical skills\, which will allow them to help individuals improve such things as sit to stand\, mobility\, and positioning. \nLearning objectives:\n• Outline the most effective methods to help reduce falls\n• Identify common risk factors\n• Understand the importance of exercise\n• Understand how to risk assess falls using a multi-factorial risk assessment \n*Please note: As per our T&C’s\, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance\, non-completion or late cancellation.\nBookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred.

More information can be found here\n\nOne day course at HCPA Mundells Campus\nThis course is suitable for staff providing direct care or making decisions across all adult care settings \nUnder the Health and Care Act 2022 all CQC-regulated providers must ensure their staff receive training in learning disability and autism that is appropriate to their role.\nThis is supported by the Oliver McGowan Code of Practice\, which sets out how to meet this legal duty. \n\nThis applies to all services\nEven if your service does not currently support autistic people or people with a learning disability\, this requirement still applies.\nPeople with learning disabilities and autistic people may use a wide range of services\, including general\, older people’s\, and non-specialist settings. In some cases\, individuals may not have a formal diagnosis or may not have disclosed it. Therefore\, all staff must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide safe\, respectful\, and inclusive care. \nThe Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is the government’s preferred training of meaningful training for health and social care staff on learning disabilities and autism.\nThe Tier 2 course is co-delivered by trainers with lived experience and covers: \n\nAvoiding diagnostic overshadowing\nCommon co-occurring conditions\nLegal frameworks (Mental Capacity Act\, Human Rights Act\, Autism Act\, Equality Act)\nReasonable adjustments\, including hospital passports\nAppropriate DNACPR application\nProfessional culture\, biases\, and their impact\nAccessible communication\nUnderstanding and responding to individuals and families\nAsk Listen Do framework\nLearning from LeDeR\n\nPrior to attending\, delegates must have completed the e-learning module which can be found here\nPlease note this is managed on the national platform “e-learning for healthcare” and is not managed by HCPA.
