DESCRIPTION:    \nCourse fee: £20+VAT\nThis course is eligible for funding re-imbursement via the Learning & Development Support Scheme (LDSS). More information can be found here\n \n\nOne hour course via MS Teams\nThis course is suitable for support staff who do not provide direct care (eg. domestic\, admin\, kitchen).\nFor those providing direct care or making decisions\, the Tier 2 one day course is required \nUnder the Health and Care Act 2022 all CQC-regulated providers must ensure their staff receive training in learning disability and autism that is appropriate to their role.\nThis is supported by the Oliver McGowan Code of Practice\, which sets out how to meet this legal duty. \n\nThis applies to all services\nEven if your service does not currently support autistic people or people with a learning disability\, this requirement still applies.\nPeople with learning disabilities and autistic people may use a wide range of services\, including general\, older people’s\, and non-specialist settings. In some cases\, individuals may not have a formal diagnosis or may not have disclosed it. Therefore\, all staff must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide safe\, respectful\, and inclusive care. \nThe Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is the government’s preferred training of meaningful training for health and social care staff on learning disabilities and autism.\nThe Tier 1 course is co-delivered by trainers with lived experience and covers: \n\nHow to ask someone how they need to be supported\nGroup questions for discussion\nSharing own thoughts and experiences\nUnderstanding the need for reasonable adjustments\nMyth-busting\nExperiences of using services from those with lived experience\n\nLearning Outcomes: \n\nUnderstand that everyone is different and has different needs\nGive an example of how you can support a person with a learning disability or an autistic person differently\nGive an overview of what ‘reasonable adjustments’ means\nIdentify changes in practice needed to enable excellent care and services for people with a learning disability and autistic people\n\nPrior to attending\, delegates must have completed the e-learning module which can be found here\nPlease note this is managed on the national platform “e-learning for healthcare” and is not managed by HCPA. DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCourse fee: HCPA Full Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate Member: £37.50+VAT | ACE Member: £50+VAT | Non-member: £75+VAT\n\nOne day course at HCPA Campus\nThis course will give Care Managers and Supervisors the knowledge and skills to engage confidently and compassionately in discussions surrounding sexuality and intimacy for individuals they support. Emphasis is placed on understanding safeguarding principles and positive risk-taking while respecting autonomy. Exploring the barriers\, benefits and impact of staff values on understanding sexuality and relationships\, clarifying roles\, regulations\, and legal considerations in all areas of care provision. \nLearning objectives:\n• Communication Skills: Teaching effective communication strategies to discuss sensitive topics with empathy and respect.\n• Understanding Diverse Needs: Recognising and understanding the diverse range of relationships and sexualities among individuals\, including LGBTQ+ identities.\n• Consent and Boundaries: Educating staff on the importance of consent\, boundaries\, and personal autonomy.\n• Cultural Sensitivity: Addressing cultural differences and their impact on relationships and sexuality.\n• Support for Individuals: Recognising signs of those that need support and offering that support appropriately.\n• Legal and Ethical Considerations: Understanding legal frameworks and ethical considerations when supporting individuals in matters related to relationships and sexuality. \n*Please note: As per our T&C’s\, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance\, non-completion or late cancellation.\nBookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred
