Champions mentor peers\, influence care delivery\, and maintain elevated care standards through ongoing governance and learning. \nWe suggest care providers have a Champion in each relevant topic area. To ensure quality and focus\, each individual may only be a Champion in up to two topic areas: \nThe Nutrition CHAMPION course will enable Care professionals to take on the role of Champion within their organisation for this topic. The Champion will have a clear understanding of local and national guidance and legislation for and will cascade this information amongst care teams\, improving the safety and quality of care for individuals. \nLearning Outcomes:\n• Define the role of a Nutrition Champion and explain how this role benefits their organisation by promoting person-centred\, evidence-based nutritional care.\n• Describe common nutritional needs and challenges in adult care\, including the impact of malnutrition\, dehydration\, and specific dietary requirements on health and wellbeing.\n• Explain relevant local and national guidance\, legislation\, and best practices relating to nutrition in adult care settings.\n• Apply the SMART goal-setting process to develop tailored nutrition care plans that support individual preferences and health outcomes.\n• Demonstrate effective communication techniques to promote positive conversations about nutrition and provide supportive responses when individuals face barriers to healthy eating.\n• Implement person-centred approaches that promote dignity\, choice\, and independence in relation to food and drink.\n• Analyse barriers to good nutrition in care settings and identify strategies to overcome these\, such as environmental\, cultural\, or organisational challenges.\n• Evaluate the importance of multi-disciplinary collaboration\, including input from dietitians\, speech and language therapists\, and other professionals\, to support individuals with complex nutritional needs.\n• Assess the effectiveness of nutrition interventions and care practices\, recommending improvements to enhance health outcomes and reduce risks such as malnutrition and dehydration.\n• Develop a SMART goal-driven action plan to embed good nutritional care principles within services\, raising awareness\, reducing risks\, and improving the overall quality of care. \nFind out more and apply here \nNote – This is an application\, not a booking. If approved\, you will be invited to book.

SUMMARY:Trauma Informed Approaches and becoming a trauma informed organisation
DESCRIPTION:Course fee: HCPA Full Member: Fully funded*\nAssociate Member: £37.50+VAT | ACE Member: £50+VAT | Non-member: £75+VAT  \nOne day course at HCPA \nDelegates will have an opportunity to understand the widespread nature of trauma within populations\, and how these can manifest on both an individual\, community\, cultural and national level. \nDelegates will learn how traumatic experiences\, especially those in childhood can fundamentally affect the way in which brain development occurs and will explore different types of trauma responses. They will also learn a key principle of being trauma informed is by looking beyond presenting behaviours and understand trauma informed approaches are not a specific intervention\, rather an organisational change to how people within all levels of an organisation are treated. This organisational change has multiple benefits to all people at all levels\, not just those who use services. \nDelegates will spend the second half of the day being shown a step-by-step guide on how to use the TrACE toolkit to; ready\, review\, monitor and evaluate their own trauma informed journey and have an opportunity to network with other delegates to support their individual journeys further. \nLearning objectives:\n• The prevalence of trauma\, especially Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) within society.\n• That trauma is a natural response to abnormal experiences.\n• Consider types of experiences that can lead to trauma.\n• Explore the link between ACEs and poor adult health outcomes.\n• Understand key points of attachment theory.\n• Understand how trauma can change the flight and fight response and\, how this can subsequently cause a lifelong impact on a person’s behaviour.\n• Understand the 4 R’s of being trauma aware and the 6 principles of trauma approaches.\n• Step-by-step guide on how to become a trauma informed organisation using the 4 stages of the TrACE toolkit.\n \n*Please note: As per our T&C’s\, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance\, non-completion or late cancellation.\nBookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.\nDelegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred
