SkillUp to Health and Social Care (Level 2 Accredited course) – Cohort 6

This course is part-funded with a charge of £60 per delegate. This course is delivered over four sessions ( 14th,15th,21st,22nd June) and all sessions must be attended (T&C’s apply). This course has a coursework element which must be completed within 30 days of the course end date (T&C’s apply)

Course description

This course builds on, and refreshes care practitioners knowledge from completing the Care Certificate.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course learners will be able to:
– Identify the principles of adult safeguarding
– Summarise the national legislation and local policy relating to safeguarding and protection from abuse
– Describe how Duty of Care relates to Duty of Candour
– Describe how MCA relates to working practices
– Summarise the legal requirements for the provision of first aid in the workplace
– Explain procedures to be followed for different emergency first aid situations in given scenarios
– Identify roles and responsibilities for health, safety and welfare in the workplace
– Describe how risk assessments contribute to health and safety
– Identify basic anatomy and physiology in relation to moving and positioning individuals
– Summarise the guidance and requirements for moving and positioning individuals
– Summarise ways of working to prevent fires
– Recognise potential fire hazards

*Please note, due to COVID-19 we are unable to complete practical demonstrations or competency checks for the following courses – Basic Life Support and Moving and Assisting, therefore we are offering knowledge only training for these topics and the practical competencies will either need to be completed on-site by a suitable person or completed at a later date once the training centre is fully open*

Requirements and expectations

Learners will be expected to attend all sessions, complete coursework within agreed timeframes (T&C’s apply), be engaged in learning, participate in all activities including group discussions, and share their own experiences of working in the care sector, whilst respecting confidentiality

Learners should have successfully completed Care Certificate training previously

A Onefile (e-portfolio) profile will be created on the learners behalf to support them in the completion of their course
