Governance: Ensuring compliance through best practice – Cohort 3

Day 1:  25/10/21 – 10:00 – 16:00 at HCPA Campus
Day 2:  10/11/21 – 10:00 – 16:00 via Zoom

This course is designed for managers, senior staff or any person who has a responsibility to ensure governance and compliance within their organisation. It is designed to support providers who are experiencing difficulties with ensuring governance within their organisation and covers the definition of governance and what this means within the organisation
• Highlighting areas of concern regarding governance via different mediums
• Establish understanding of CQC, SQUIG and PAMMS
• Looking at the key areas of concern
• Roles and responsibilities and accountabilities of the Nominated Individual, Registered Manager and Compliance lead and how these triangulate within governance
• Defining each of the five key lines of enquiry covered by CQC and defining knowledge, confidence and competence
• How to link reflective practice in continuous improvement
• Action planning and next steps
• Guidance on testing and triangulating action plans
• Discussion and information on tool kits. Mock inspections, audit tools and consultation

Learning objectives:
• Recognise the responsibilities involved in governance and how to embed this within their service
• To have clear guidance regarding the roles, responsibilities and accountabilities with different roles
• To have knowledge of what different inspecting bodies provide and support given
• To be aware of areas of concern and how to ensure governance is met
• To have a wider knowledge of inspection criteria and how to measure this
• Be able to confidently work with action plans and tool kits to ensure good governance and compliance within the service
• To be signposted to areas that will support with governance and compliance

Learners will be expected to be engaged in learning, participate in all activities including group discussions, and share their own experiences of working in the care sector, whilst respecting confidentiality
