Course description
This course is suitable for management working in older people care services.
Management will learn how to implement the staff’s knowledge and falls tools by developing action plans in relation to falls risk identification and assessment.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course learners will be able to:
• How to risk assess for falls and carry out provider risk assessments and update policies
• Strategies that can be implemented to reduce falls. This includes reviewing environments, medication, technology, visual awareness, footwear, nutrition and hydration
• To embed falls assessment tools, including FRAT: a national wide tool used to assess an individual falls risk
• To action plan areas within your organisation to reduce falls risk
Requirements and expectations
Learners will be expected to be engaged in learning, participate in all activities including group discussions, share their own experiences of working in the care sector, whilst respecting confidentiality, and to share best practice examples
A Onefile (e-portfolio) profile will be created on the learners behalf to support them in the completion of their course
