Course description
Staff will look at how to prevent falls by conducting risk assessments, self-assessments and implementing person-centred strategies to reduce falls, liaise with family and professional services. You will understand how to identify, assess and have an awareness on the procedures necessary to reduce the risk of falls.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course learners will be able to:
• How to risk assess for falls and carry out provider risk assessments and update policies
• Strategies that can be implemented to reduce falls. This includes reviewing environments, medication, technology, visual awareness, footwear, nutrition and hydration and action planning
• Increased awareness of the common causes of falls
• Linking with professionals
Requirements and expectations
Learners will be expected to be engaged in learning, participate in all activities including group discussions, share their own experiences of working in the care sector, whilst respecting confidentiality, and to share best practice examples
A Onefile (e-portfolio) profile will be created on the learners behalf to support them in the completion of their course
