End of Life Symptom Management for Care Staff – Cohort 2

Course description

All sessions unless stated otherwise are suitable for all levels of staff who are working in older people and Adult Disability care services within residential, nursing or homecare environments

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course learners will be able to:
• To be able to assess and identify symptoms at the end of life and refer appropriately
• To identify pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches to symptom control
• To recognise the symptoms at the end of life
• To consider the importance of person centred care at the end of life
• To be able to state the process of re-use of medication
• To identify tools and resources which can assist in monitoring symptom management

Requirements and expectations

Learners will be expected to be engaged in learning, participate in all activities including group discussions, share their own experiences of working in the care sector, whilst respecting confidentiality, and to share best practice examples

A Onefile (e-portfolio) profile will be created on the learners behalf to support them in the completion of their coursse
