End of Life Communication – Cohort 2

Course description

All sessions unless stated otherwise are suitable for all levels of staff who are working in older people and Adult Disability care services within residential, nursing or homecare environments

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course learners will be able to:
• To identify what aids effective communication at the end of life
• To recognise barriers and blocks to communication
• To recognise the significance of non-verbal behaviours and body language
• To be able to structure a conversation
• Consider resources to aid communication
• To be able to demonstrate empathy

Requirements and expectations

Learners will be expected to be engaged in learning, participate in all activities including group discussions, share their own experiences of working in the care sector, whilst respecting confidentiality, and to share best practice examples

A Onefile (e-portfolio) profile will be created on the learners behalf to support them in the completion of their course
