Duty of Candour – Cohort 2

Course description

This course identifies what Duty of Candour means and how to embed a transparent culture within learners organisation.

Learners will be taught the skills needed to report mistakes and who they should report to. Through sharing their experiences and troubleshooting with others, learners will be able to analyse the current trends and culture of their organisation to help them make improvements.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course learners will be able to:
– Recognise where a transparent culture is required and why
– Describe the impact that clear reporting procedures have on their organisation
– Explore the need for ‘lessons learned’ and clear improvement structures
– Analyse the requirements of Duty of Candour under CQC registration

Requirements and expectations

Learners will be expected to be engaged in learning, participate in all activities including group discussions, share their own experiences of working in the care sector, whilst respecting confidentiality, and to share best practice examples

Learners should have knowledge of organisational and national reporting procedure, and be willing and able to implement necessary changes to their policies

A Onefile (e-portfolio) profile will be created on the learners behalf to support them in the completion of their course
