Course description

This course will facilitate learners to develop an understanding and awareness of the causes and symptoms of dementia, allowing for progression to Level 2 and Level 3 Health and Social Care qualifications and into employment in social care settings.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course learners will be able to:
• Recognise what dementia is
• Summarise the importance of a person-centred approach to dementia care and support
• Identity the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
• Explain equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care

Requirements and expectations

Learners will be expected to attend all sessions, complete coursework within agreed timeframes (T&C’s apply), be engaged in learning, participate in all activities including group discussions, and share their own experiences of working in the care sector, whilst respecting confidentiality

A Onefile (e-portfolio) profile will be created on the learners behalf to support them in the completion of their course
